One Week Painting Retreat
October 24 - 31, 2026, Marathon, Greece
Artist and teacher, Qiang Huang, would like to gather a group of ambitious artists going to Marathon (Yes, the ancient Marathon started here), Greece in the fall 2026 for a week of painting retreat. We will stay in a stunning villa overlooking the Aegean Sea and less than 10 minutes’ walk to the aqua-blue sea. We will have painting sessions retreat at the villa and by the beach. There is one day reserved to visit Athens, the capital of Greece, about an hour away from Marathon. Please check the tentative daily Itinerary. This trip is limited to 10-12 people.
The trip is provided by Qiang Huang and his associates, Yuehong Song (certified yoga teacher) and Xiaoqing (Adalyn) Zhu (an art historian and college professor). Yuehong will be giving two to three on-site sessions of introductory yoga class. Adalyn will discuss Greek art and history during excursions to the Acropolis and National Archaeological Museum.
We invite you to join us in this relaxed, beautiful, historic place. Give yourself this time and space to joyfully become a better painter!
A sample day from this retreat will incorporate some painting time, some exploration, and some bodywork: We will also set up a WhatsApp group page to discuss materials, topics, travel tips, etc. More details will be provided as we get closer to the date.
The trip will include the following:
· All transportation, including to and from the Athens airport, and all excursions.
· Demo and various teacher-led painting and sketching sessions (refer to the daily schedule below).
· Seven nights and full use of the private villa, including an indoor gym, a sauna, and a heated pool.
· Three fresh and delicious meals each day (dinner only on the day of arrival and breakfast only on the day of departure) prepared by an in-house chef.
· Art historian-led group excursions to Athens, Acropolis/Parthenon and National and local museums. Lunch included (*entrance fee to the sites is not included).
· Private group excursion to Marathon, lunch included, and visits to historical sites.
· Excursion by local ferry to a nearby island for a sketching session, picnic lunch.
· Unlimited wine, mineral water, coffee, tea, expresso, and fresh orange juice during your stay at the villa.
· All linens, including beach towels.
· AC in the villa and a heated pool.
· Yoga mats and blocks.
· Daily housekeeping and self-service laundry with detergent
· Safe boxes in all bedrooms
· High-speed wi-fi
· Casual art-critic and art-appreciation discussions will be held in evenings if there is a group interest
International airfares to and from Athens are not included.

Registration and Payment
Register with a non refundable deposit of $375 to hold a spot. Please click the blue "Registration" button to start the process. The first balance payment of $2000 will be due on June 30, 2026. The rest of the balance payment will be due on September 23, 2026.
Refund Policy
If you have to cancel, please notify us as soon as possible. Before September 1, 2026, total payment amount (less deposit) can be refunded. After September 1, 2026, no refund can be offered. If you can find a substitute for your spot, we will refund your payment, minus the deposit.
Travel Insurance
In order to best protect yourself and your travels, we require proof of travel insurance to participate at this retreat. There are several companies that offer affordable and comprehensive coverage for a variety of issues. We recommend www.traveldefenders.com and www.allianztravelinsurance.com. Proof of travel insurance will be due along with the final payment in September.
